Music
Vision
Music has the power to inspire, stimulate and heal us. It can provoke us and speak to every one of our emotions. It is a universal language and we at Ebchester CE Primary School believe our music curriculum motivates our children to be creative and express themselves through music. Our music curriculum develops confidence, resilience, provides a sense of achievement and allows children to tap into their limitless talents.

Our music curriculum equips children with the knowledge and skills to be able to listen to a variety of musical styles with appreciation and be able to analyse these in relation to pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and notation. Through the teaching of these interrelated dimensions of music, our children will also be able to compose music that appropriately reflects their emotions and creativity. Singing is at the heart of the music curriculum at Ebchester CE Primary School and we use our voices to create, compose and perform music on our own and with others. All children will also learn an instrument and have the opportunity to progress to the next level of musical excellence through individual teaching by a musical specialist.

Through collective worship, children at Ebchester CE Primary School sing everyday. We believe that singing and access to music develop a sense of community and friendship which will stay with our children forever. We provide opportunities throughout the year for our children to rehearse and perform music. These performances can range from small, informal acts in front of class friends to full-scale productions for the wider school community. These musical experiences develop friendships as people rehearse and learn together and provide lifelong memories.
