Science

Vision

Ebchester CE Primary  School provides a stimulating environment where children encounter challenging and creative scientific learning opportunities. These practical, hands-on experiences inspire natural curiosity, resilience and confidence; encouraging pupils to question the world around them. A progression of skills across key stages allows pupils to move from early observations and exploration, to considered questioning and drawing out of ideas.

By the end of their primary education our pupils will be equipped  to develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Science will engage pupils and many levels, linking ideas with practical experiences interwoven throughout the curriculum. Investigation and enquiry will be embedded in every lesson, encouraging a deeper understanding of their environment. Our school grounds offer a rich resource that we can utilise to ring science to life. An emphasis will be placed on using correct scientific vocabulary to ensure pupils are able to communicate effectively. Real-lie experiences are a fundamental part of or approach and regular opportunities are provided for pupils to learn in a variety of ways.
